Brittany Osborne

Brittany Osborne

Brittany works as a junior barrister for Sam Wimsett KC.

Brittany graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Music specialising in classical singing. She is passionate about individualised justice and how the law responds to a person’s particular circumstances, as reflected in her dissertation, which examined whether New Zealand should adopt a defence of diminished responsibility for murder. Brittany appears as sole counsel in the District and High Courts for preliminary matters and as junior counsel with Sam for all substantive matters.

Outside of the law, Brittany is a professional classical singer. She has cantored in cathedrals across New Zealand for the last 10 years and sings as the alto in ‘8bit’, a professional octet vocal ensemble featuring Brittany and her friends. A New Zealand Youth Choir alumna, she was a member of the 2025 choir that won ‘Choir of the World’ at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. Brittany has performed with the New Zealand Opera Chorus, Voices New Zealand, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. Brittany’s background in performance complements her courtroom advocacy – which is clear and presented with confidence.
