Paul Wicks QC
Paul completed his legal studies at Auckland University and has practiced as a barrister sole since December 1994. He was appointed to the rank of Queen’s Counsel in 2014.
Paul’s areas of specialty include employment and criminal law. He also accepts instructions for civil proceedings related to his specialty areas.
In the area of employment law Paul appears regularly before the Employment Court and Employment Relations Authority for employers and senior executives in respect of a broad range of employment related matters, including employee disputes, restraint of trade and breach of confidence claims. Paul accepts instructions to provide opinion advice, undertake independent investigations for employers and to act as a mediator in employment disputes.
Paul has significant and wide-ranging experience in all areas of the criminal law where he appears regularly before the District Court, High Court and Court of Appeal. He appears as trial counsel in complex and serious criminal cases. Paul also appears as counsel in respect of regulatory prosecutions and proceedings under the criminal proceeds legislation.
Between 1995 and 2001 Paul served as a member of the NZ Bar Association Council.
